Youth Crime Watch Nigeria Awards 2016/17




Youth Crime Watch Nigeria recognize members, individuals, organizations and schools who have demonstrated leadership qualities in interacting with others to reach results that advance the larger society and/or achieve results that support their school, community or organization.

Casey is the Youth Crime Watch of America mascot. Casey exemplifies leadership, the ability to say “no,” positive youth choices, youth-adult partnerships, and good citizenship. The Casey Awards recognize individuals and organizations that provide leadership, resources and exemplary support for youth-led crime prevention efforts/programs. The awards are presented by Youth Crime Watch of Nigeria, a national non-profit organization that promotes youth-led crime prevention programs across the nation.

RECOGNIZING THOSE WHO PROMOTE AND SUPPORT YOUTH-LED CRIME PREVENTION EFFORTS


1. Casey of the Year (School and/or Community) – For the member of a community and/or school YCW program that has distinguished itself by promoting a safe, crime, and drug free environment. The holder of this award must exhibit all the attributes of the Casey Mascot - leadership responsibilities, confidence, courage, good citizenship, and integrity. It is the highest award within the YCW Nigeria family.

2. Youth of the Year (School and/or Community) – For youths in a community and/or school YCW program that have exemplified what it means to be members of YCW. Different awards may be given to recognize a variety of youth accomplishments.

3. Alumnus of the Year – For an individual who was a member of YCW program as a youth and has demonstrated continued support to the YCW program within the community or on a state or national level.

4. Advisor of the Year (School and/or Community) – For the advisor of a community and/or school YCW program that has distinguished itself by promoting a safe, crime, and drug free environment.

5. Officer of the Year – For a law enforcement officer that works with a YCW program that has distinguished itself by promoting a safe, crime, and drug free school and/or community.

6. Volunteer of the Year – For an individual citizen, 18 & over who has volunteered his/her time to work with YCW Nigeria or develop youth crime prevention programming.

7. Principal of the Year – For the principal of a school who has provided exceptional support of the Youth Crime Watch in their school.

8. YCW Nigeria Site of the Year (School and/or Community) – For a YCW Nigeria site that has distinguished itself from others in youth crime prevention by making the environment a safer and better place to live and learn. There will be one award each for elementary, middle, high school and community.

9. Education – For an educational organization that has demonstrated exemplary support for YCW Nigeria or youth crime prevention programming within an educational institution.

10. Law Enforcement/Crime Prevention – For an agency within law enforcement or the crime prevention community that has demonstrated exemplary support for YCW Nigeria or youth crime prevention programming.

11. Legislative – For an elected official or elected body that, through policy and advocacy, has supported YCW Nigeria or youth crime prevention programming.

12. Business/Organization – For an organization, business, and or corporation that provides exemplary support for YCW Nigeria or youth crime prevention programming within the local community.

13. State – For a state or national level organization or agency that provides exemplary support for YCW Nigeria or youth crime prevention programming.
